New Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) eLearning Course for Healthcare Professionals
Blue Stream Academy is pleased to announce the release of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
online training course. This course has been designed for health care professionals and is now available on the GP, Health and Social Care, Hospice and Palliative Care, and Private and Urgent Care eLearning and Management Platforms.
COPD is a common, treatable lung condition. It is characterised by persistent respiratory symptoms such coughing and breathlessness. It can occur in people who have never smoke, however, it is mainly caused by cigarette smoking.
Our COPD training supports health and social care professionals by improving skills and knowledge to understand the causes and symptoms of COPD, make an accurate diagnosis and recognise its severity, and recommend treatment and lifestyle changes to manage symptoms.
Impact of COPD on Patients and NHS Services
The outlook for COPD varies from person to person. The condition cannot be cured or reversed, but for many people, treatment can help keep it under control, so it does not severely limit their daily activities.
But in some people, COPD may continue to get worse despite treatment, eventually having a significant impact on their quality of life and leading to life-threatening problems.
Evidence suggests that earlier detection and diagnosis of asthma and COPD, alongside other lung conditions allows the targeted use of early primary prevention interventions (like support to stop smoking) and secondary prevention interventions (like pulmonary rehabilitation). There is strong clinical consensus that an earlier diagnosis provides greater opportunities for proven clinical interventions.
COPD Training Courses
Blue Stream Academy’s COPD eLearning course contains information about the prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) across the world and in the UK, the impact of COPD on patients and NHS services, its characteristics and causes, as well as the role of a person’s occupation in COPD including the occupations and substances which are most linked. The course also provides information about the diagnostic considerations, including the tests that can support diagnosis, and the differential diagnoses of COPD.
This eLearning course is Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certified, providing 1 CPD hour upon completion.
