National Apprenticeship Week 2023 – Interview with an Apprentice
Here at Blue Stream Academy, we pride ourselves on providing the highest quality of staff education, experience, and development both internally and for our customers. A number of our team began their career journey as apprentices and have since continued their development into their current roles.
This week marks National Apprenticeship Week 2023 (NAW2023), and what better way is there to celebrate it than to recognise our apprentices – past and present!
The theme for this year’s National Apprenticeship Week is ‘Skills for Life’, so we’ve had a chat with our past apprentices Beth, Jordan, Alex and Abi and our current apprentice Caitlin about what skills they have gained from their apprenticeships and how they have been transferable into their roles here at Blue Stream Academy.
To kick-start National Apprenticeship Week, we spoke to our Marketing Assistant, Caitlin and found out more about her current apprenticeship, check out what she had to say below…
Hi Caitlin! How long have you been part of Team BSA and which qualification are you completing with your apprenticeship?
“Hi! I’ve been a part of Team BSA for almost a year and a half now, and I am currently completing a Level 4 Marketing Executive apprenticeship.”
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?
"I enjoy learning about new aspects of Marketing and putting what I have learnt into practice within my professional role.”
Have you faced any challenges with your apprenticeship? If so, how have you overcome these?
“There have been times when I have felt overwhelmed by the amount of content there is to learn within my apprenticeship and that I’m not understanding it all. I have overcome this by being honest with my manager Abi who has assigned me work that aligns with the content that I am learning, helping me put it into practice and she is always on hand to answer any Marketing related questions!”
How does your training support your professional role?
“My apprenticeship has taught me about the theoretical aspects of Marketing as well as tools, techniques, and methods to use in analysing and measuring the work that I produce within my professional role. It falls nicely with my role here at Blue Stream Academy as I can apply my skills to my daily tasks!”
Do you have any tips or advice for anyone looking to complete an apprenticeship?
“Make sure you complete your off the job hours and maintain a portfolio of your work! It’s so important to keep up to date and organised with your apprenticeship work as it means that preparing and revising for your End Point Assessment is a lot more approachable. As well as this, keeping a portfolio of work you have completed over the duration means you have evidence of what you have achieved.”
Where do you see yourself progressing after your apprenticeship?
"I’m looking forward to completing my apprenticeship and being a qualified, professional Marketer. I’m hoping that what I have learnt over this year stays with me as I progress my career here at Blue Stream Academy and take a lead on more campaigns and events."
Thanks for your time, Caitlin!
Stay tuned to see what our team of past apprentices have to say throughout the week!
