CQC Health Check | MHRA Alerts for GP Practices

Blue Stream Academy

Blue Stream Academy is pleased to confirm that CQC Health Check Phase 7 is now live on the GP eLearning and Management platform.

The latest update includes Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) alerts management, an anaphylaxis kit check feature, and new task documents and attachment options.

Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Alerts

MHRA Alerts Management is now available on the CQC Health Check system. Within the organisation’s MHRA Alerts Management area, CQC Health Check users can:
  • Read the alert – the MHRA Alerts Management area provides an overview of Alerts showing the Alert date, type, title, summary, actions, and acknowledgement requirements set by the system administrator.
  • View the alert on the Gov.uk website – each alert has a direct link to relevant alert page on the Gov.UK website for the full alert details and any associated documents or resources.
  • Manage the alert - within Manage MHRA Alerts, system administrators and site managers can assign an MHRA alert for staff to read and acknowledge. Create an action in response to an alert and assign a staff member to complete the action. Mark the alert as closed once all staff required to read an alert have done so and all actions associated with the alert are complete.
  • Filter, save and export the MHRA Alerts report – as with every Blue Stream Academy report, system administrators can filter the MHRA Alerts report via the alert issue date or type, and export the report to Microsoft Excel, save the report as a pdf via the print function, or send the report straight to a printer.

What are MHRA Alerts?

The CQC Health Check system now provides alerts from the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The alerts, recalls and safety information provided by the MHRA are split into 4 different message types: field safety notices, national patient safety alerts, device safety information and medicines.

CQC Health Check - Anaphylaxis kit check

CQC Health Check users can now add their anaphylaxis kits as an organisational asset, creating reminders for regular kit checks. Each kit check contains minimum quantity requirements, alongside expiry date and stock maintenance.

What’s included in Blue Stream Academy’s Anaphylaxis Kit Checklist?

The CQC Health Check Anaphylaxis Kit Check contains a list of recommended adrenaline, injections and needles, alongside an area to input the GP surgeries current quantity and expiry date per item.

Can my staff complete Anaphylaxis training on the GP eLearning platform?

Absolutely! The Anaphylaxis eLearning module talks trainees through what anaphylaxis is, what can trigger anaphylaxis, mortality rates and the recognition and management of anaphylaxis.

Who should complete Anaphylaxis training?

Blue Stream Academy recommends that the anaphylaxis training is completed by any clinical and patient/resident-facing staff members.

Is the Anaphylaxis training Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certified?

Yes, the anaphylaxis eLearning module is CPD certified, and is available on:
  • The GP eLearning and Management platform
  • The Health and Social Care eLearning and Management platform
  • The Dental eLearning and Management platform
  • The Hospice eLearning and Management platform
  • The Private and Urgent Care eLearning and Management platform.

Task documents/evidence

Documents or relevant evidence attachments can now be uploaded and stored within CQC Health Check task completions, securely organising your files in preparation for a CQC inspection.
