Anticoagulation Management CPD eLearning Module - Out Now!

Blue Stream Academy is pleased to announce the release of our new Anticoagulation Management module, available now on the Urgent & Tailored Care eLearning platform.

Anticoagulation is the use of anticoagulant medicines to help prevent blood clots. These medicines work by interrupting the process involved in the formation of blood clots, which can cause blockages to blood vessels which may result in a restriction of oxygen/blood supply to the affected area.

Anticoagulants therefore reduce the chances of developing serious conditions such as stroke, and venous thromboembolism, including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.

This module discusses anticoagulation in general, however some sections are more specific, focusing on anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation and venous thromboembolism.

This module provides information on the types of anticoagulants that are available, the indications for their use, how they are monitored, including information on international normalized ratio (INR), as well as advice and considerations for people taking anticoagulants.

There are several anticoagulant medicines available, however the anticoagulants that are focused on within this module are the vitamin K antagonist – Warfarin and the direct oral anticoagulants – Apixaban, Dabigatran, Edoxaban, and Rivaroxaban.

Anticoagulation Management module is available to add to any user profiles by accessing 'Management > Staff > Manage Profiles' on the Blue Stream Academy Management Dashboard.
