Long COVID eLearning Module - Out Now!

Blue Stream Academy is pleased to announce the release of a new Long COVID eLearning module, now live on the GP and Urgent & Tailored Care eLearning suites.

Many people with COVID-19 will feel better in a few days or weeks and most people will make a full recovery within 12 weeks. However, for some people, both adults and children, COVID-19 can cause symptoms that will persist for weeks or months after the infection has gone.

The informal term used to describe the signs and symptoms that continue or develop after an initial 4-week period is ‘long COVID’.

Our new Long COVID module provides an overview of the resources that are available to provide information on long COVID. The module also provides a summary of the most commonly reported symptoms of long COVID, information on caring for people with long COVID, and an overview of the NHS enhanced service specification for long COVID.

Utilising available NHS and NICE resources, the Long COVID eLearning module collates:

Introduction covering: key sources for information on long COVID, definitions for the period following acute COVID-19 (including long COVID), the most commonly reported symptoms of long COVID and information relating to the prevalence of long COVID.

Caring for People with Long COVID, including: recommendations for patient-centred consultations, the primary/community care post-COVID syndrome pathway for all ages, the post-hospital discharge pathway for COVID-19 and information relating to key NHS guidance on managing long COVID.

NHS Enhanced Service Specification, covering: the enhanced service specification made available to enable GP practices to better support their patients with long COVID.
